With a total land mass of 15km2 Keros is the largest of the Koufonisia group of islands. A mountainous island with no harbor and is a noteworthy center of the Cycladic civilization. It is uninhabited today and till recently had a total of one inhabitant, a goat herder from Amorgos island.
Its view from upper Koufonisi is intriguing because its mountain range delineates a woman lying on her side and a whole host of myths and legends consider this to be the “lost holy island” of antiquity.
